A set of resin exhaust stacks for the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.V fighter in 1:32 scale from Quickboost. It is a precisely cast replacement for the exhausts on the sides of the engine cowling, not a standalone model of the aircraft. The detail part replaces the coarser exhausts from the basic kit and gives them a more faithful shape, drilled mouths included.
The Spitfire Mk.V was one of the most widespread versions of this British fighter and was powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine. Its exhaust gases were carried away by rows of short exhaust stacks along the sides of the cowling. This set reproduces them more sharply and with open mouths, which looks more realistic than a solid part from an injection mold.
Resin parts call for more careful work: wash them to remove the mold release agent, separate them carefully from the casting block and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); protect your airways while sanding. Paint the exhausts with a combination of rust shades, dark metal and burnt steel, add a weathered pigment and soot trails running backward so that they look worn by use.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
