A resin replacement part, not a model. This resin set from the Czech brand Quickboost (Aires) in 1:32 scale contains a set of fishtail exhausts (with the widened, fishtail outlet) for the British Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX fighter. It is an easily fitted resin detail with hollowed exhaust ends that replaces the solid plastic parts from the box. It is supplied unpainted and without an aircraft model.
The Spitfire Mk.IX was one of the most successful and widespread versions of the Spitfire, powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. The fishtail exhaust stubs with their widened outlets are a conspicuous feature along the sides of the engine cowling. Compared with the plastic from the box, the resin exhausts have a truer shape and cast hollowed outlets, so they look realistic on a finished model without any drilling.
Wash the parts to remove mold release residue, cut off the casting blocks carefully and sand the mating surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply primer before painting; shades of baked metal, rust and soot built up with an airbrush, pigments and a wash work well for a faithful worn look.
The part is supplied unpainted, as a resin casting. Glue, paints and the aircraft model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
