A set of painting (masking) masks from the Czech maker Eduard in 1:32 scale. The masks are precisely cut and serve to cover the canopy frames, the glazed surfaces and usually the tires as well while paint and varnish are sprayed. Thanks to their accurate shape, crisp, clean edges result without laborious masking with tape by hand. This is an aftermarket accessory, not a model in its own right: the masks are used on a matching plastic model of the aircraft, which is obtained separately.
The Supermarine Spitfire was a British single-seat fighter. The Mk.XVI version was a late form with a Merlin engine built under license by Packard, often with clipped wingtips and with the e-type armament of cannons and machine guns.
The masks are separated carefully from the sheet, applied to a clean, degreased surface and pressed down gently, so that paint cannot run to the edges. The paint is applied in thin coats, best with an airbrush; once dry, the masks are taken off before the finish hardens completely. It is worth filling the rest of the glazed surfaces between the frames with masking tape or with liquid mask.
These are painting masks, not a model of the aircraft. The model itself, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
