This is not a kit but a set of self-adhesive masks cut to the shape of the glazing of a model of the two-seat trainer version of the Starfighter in 1:32 scale. The masks are cut into thin masking film on a carrier sheet. The two-seat cockpit has a longer canopy and more dividing frames than the single-seat one, so finished masks save a large part of the time that would otherwise go on cutting tape.
The film follows the gentle curvature of the canopy and holds even in the corners, where straight tape forms ripples that paint creeps under. The set usually holds discs for masking the tires as well, which is worthwhile with the large wheels of 1:32 scale. After spraying, the mask is peeled off and a sharp edge remains, with no fraying and with nothing to correct by brush.
Degrease the glazing and let it dry. Lift the mask off the carrier sheet with tweezers or the tip of a scalpel and press it down with a soft tool so that the clear part does not get scratched. Spray the cockpit interior shade first, then the primer and the covering color. Several thin coats are always better than one heavy coat, which leaves a step on the edge. Remove the mask shortly after the paint has dried, pulling sideways. Wipe off any adhesive residue with a cotton swab.
This is an accessory, not an aircraft model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
