An injection-molded plastic kit of the two-seat F-5F Tiger II in the attractive large 1:32 scale. Besides the plastic frames the set from the manufacturer Kitty Hawk also holds clear parts, photo-etched sheet for the fine detail, a decal sheet with several marking variants and color painting instructions. It is built as a classic plastic kit, and neither glue nor paints are included in the package.
The F-5F is the two-seat variant of the light supersonic Northrop F-5 Tiger II fighter. Against the single-seat F-5E it has a lengthened nose with seats in tandem and dual controls, so it serves to convert pilots to supersonic equipment and to carry out lighter combat tasks. Power comes from a pair of General Electric J85 jet engines with afterburners. Thanks to a simple design and low operating costs the type spread into the inventories of a number of countries, and some machines are in service to this day.
In the large scale the interior of both cockpits comes into its own, so it pays to shade it and to use the photo-etched parts supplied for the seat belts and the instrument panels. Mask the clear parts before spraying and glue them with a cement for canopies that does not fog the plastic. Join the structure with a thin cement for plastic, and sand and polish the fuselage seams. Before applying the decals, spray the areas with gloss clear coat so that no silvering arises, and finally unify the surface with matte varnish. The external stores and the tanks can be put together in several configurations, so choose the variant before the racks are glued on.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
