An accessory from the Czech maker Brengun for modelers who are building a scene around their airplane in 1:32 scale. It is not a kit: the package holds photo-etched sheet with miniature tools that are distributed over a base, into a workshop corner, onto a trolley or into the hands of figures. The composition of the tools is not stated here.
A scene with an airplane starts to look alive the moment human activity is apparent in it. A wrench set down on a wing, a tool laid on a drum or implements strewn about by an open engine cowling say more about what is going on at an airfield than another painted panel on the fuselage. In the large 1:32 scale the tools have to be genuinely fine, and shapes like these cannot be cast in plastic, whereas photo-etched sheet holds the thin profile of a wrench and a slender handle.
Cut the parts out of the fret with a scalpel on a hard surface, and to be safe leave them on the remains of the fret until you have painted them: small tools are held much better by a piece of sheet than by tweezers. Spray on a primer, then a base dark metal shade. Paint the handles in with a brush and finally go over the metal parts with a dry brush with graphite or silver paint, so that they shine only on the edges. At the end cut the parts off, blacken the cuts with a marker and glue the tools in place with a minute drop of super glue. Do not lay the tools out in a tidy row, as a random arrangement looks more credible.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without a base. Glue, paints and figures are not included in the package.
