The Estes Swift is a kit for a small but high-performance flying rocket model powered by miniature rocket motors. The model is slender and light, it goes together from a few parts including wooden fins and a plastic nose cone, and it is glued together. Self-adhesive decals are usually included as well. It is a classic representative of the Estes range.
The model is launched from a launch pad with a single-use rocket motor; once the motor has burned out it climbs to altitude and then returns safely to the ground. Thanks to its low weight the Swift comes back by tumbling, so it needs no parachute. Flying model rockets is a popular technical hobby that combines building with the flight itself.
Rocket motors, igniters and a launch set (a launch pad and a launch controller) are not included in the package and are bought separately. Use cyanoacrylate glue or a modeling glue when building and follow the instructions. Launch outdoors in the open, away from dry grass, and always with children under the supervision of an adult.
