A figure item of the 1:32 scale from the surroundings of the US Army Air Forces of 1940 to 1945. The name brings two roles of a bomber crew together: the aircraft commander and the navigator. It is exactly the pair of roles that tells it apart from the items carrying only one duty. It is made by Black Dog.
On a heavy bomber of that time these were entirely different jobs. The aircraft commander answered for the machine and for the people on board and decided the course of the flight. The navigator worked separately over the map and the calculations, led the machine along the route by time, speed and measured wind drift, and on long-distance flights leaned on celestial observations too. That difference is a gift for a scene, because each of the figures is doing something else.
The moment before takeoff on the flight line works best: some object lies between the figures, over which the eyes of both come together, and the machine towers behind them. This shared point in the display is more important than the turn of the figures itself, because it is what holds the composition together. In color, count on the subdued palette of a working environment, into which a single more saturated detail is enough.
