A set of figures of an American bomber crew in 1:32 scale, the first of the line. It completes an aircraft model or an airfield scene with the people who belong to it.
Responsibility details are not available.
The crews of American bombers of the Second World War flew at high altitude in unheated fuselages, where the temperature fell far below freezing. That is where their unmistakable look comes from: thick sheepskin or heated clothing, an oxygen mask, a helmet and a parachute harness. The abbreviation USAAF stands for the United States Army Air Forces, the name the American army aviation carried during the war.
A bomber is a big model, and without people beside it you can hardly tell how big it really was. Crew figures give it scale and the scene a story: boarding the aircraft, a report before takeoff or the return after a mission. In 1:32 scale an adult figure comes out at about five and a half centimeters. The number one in the name sets this set apart from the others in the same line, and the exact composition is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry so that the paint holds. Cut any excess material and traces of manufacture away a little distance from the part with a sharp blade and sand the surface. Choose the glue to match the material of the parts. It is painted in thin coats; fur collars come alive under a dry brush, and it pays to set the harness straps apart in shade so that they are not lost in the whole.
For modelers who build a scene with a crew around an aircraft. Unless stated otherwise, the aircraft model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery.
