1:32 Vampire F.3 National Insignias And Stencils is a set of masks for the national insignia and the technical lettering for a model of the Vampire F.3 aircraft in 1:32 scale. The markings are sprayed, not stuck on.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set belongs among masks for markings. Besides the national insignia it contains, according to the name, masks for the technical lettering as well, that is, for the small graphics that on the real aircraft was sprayed through a stencil straight into the paint.
With small markings the difference between a decal and a mask is the most striking. A small decal settles badly on a curved surface, a bubble easily forms under it and its carrier film is visible even after a glossy intermediate coat. A sprayed piece of lettering lies straight in the paint, it has no edge at all and it behaves like the rest of the surface, so you can dust it with pigment or rub it partly through. That is exactly how an aircraft worn by service looks, on which the captions are barely legible in places.
Work with tweezers and a pointed toothpick, because small masks are harder to position and break easily. The base has to be cured, otherwise the paint under the mask will peel off with it while it is being removed. Spray really thinly; on small areas a light breath is enough, otherwise a palpable edge arises once it is taken off. It pays to proceed in groups and not to take all the masks off at once. The subject is a British single-engine jet fighter aircraft with a pair of tail booms, on which the markings are clearly visible even on the short fuselage.
