A kit of the British twin-engine Westland Whirlwind FB Mk I fighter-bomber in 1:32 scale. The model is meant to be assembled and painted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Westland Whirlwind was a British twin-engine fighter of the early Second World War and in many ways it went against the current. Its armament was concentrated in the nose, where four 20 mm cannons sat side by side, so the fire did not have to converge on one point as with weapons in the wing. It was powered by a pair of Rolls-Royce Peregrine V12s, and it was exactly there that development stalled, so only a few machines were built and they served with two squadrons. The FB Mk I version, that is the fighter-bomber, carried a pair of bombs under the wing and used the high speed of the aircraft at low level for attacks across the Channel.
This is a kit to be glued and painted in the large 1:32 scale; the finished model has a span of about forty-three centimeters. The extent of the parts and the choice of marking options are given in the manufacturer instructions.
A large scale forgives less, so dry fit the assembly in advance, above all the engine nacelles and the way they join the wing. Clean the parts of surplus material and production marks and sand the mating surfaces. Finish the cockpit before you close the fuselage. Wash and degrease the surface before painting, lay the paint on in thin coats and apply the masking before spraying.
The set is for modelers who want a large model of a less usual subject and are not afraid of a longer build. Paints, thinner, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
