A Montex masking set in 1:32 scale for the Westland Whirlwind Mk.I helps to spray the frames of the glazing and other areas with a sharp edge. It is an accessory to a build, not a standalone model.

This item is not a kit but a set of masking templates in 1:32 scale. The templates are shaped to the framing of the cockpit and serve to create a clean dividing line between the glazing and the structure during spraying. The result tends to be markedly cleaner than drawing the frames in by hand with a brush.
The Westland Whirlwind was a British twin-engine fighter from the start of the Second World War. It was powered by a pair of Rolls-Royce Peregrine V12 engines and had its armament concentrated in the nose, which gave it an unusually strong and accurate burst. It was used in combat by No. 263 Squadron and No. 137 Squadron, among other things for attacks on targets over the English Channel and on the French coast. The production run was small, so the Whirlwind remains something of a rarity among British fighters, and all the more interesting to build in a large scale.
Seat the templates on the part according to the engraved framing and press the edge down carefully. Apply the paint in thin coats perpendicular to the edge so that it does not get under it. Take them off while the finish is still fresh, as a dried coat tears more easily at the edge. On the cockpit it pays to spray the interior shade first and only then the exterior camouflage.
