The real subject

The Yak-9T was the version of the Soviet Yak-9 fighter meant for use against tanks and bombers. It carried a 37 mm cannon whose barrel passed through the hollow propeller shaft, and because the weapon was long and heavy the pilot's cockpit had to be moved back to keep the machine in balance. It is exactly by that repositioned cockpit that this version is told apart at first glance. Firing so powerful a weapon slowed the aircraft noticeably, however, so it was fired in short bursts of one or two rounds.

What the set contains

The set offers wheels for a model of the Yak-9T in 1:32 scale as a replacement for the parts from the kit. Wheels are among the places where work on detail shows best: the tire pattern and the division of the hub are at eye level on a finished model, and relief tells here more than anywhere else. How many pieces the package contains and whether a tailwheel is among them is given in the manufacturer's information.

Building and painting tips

Cut away excess material and traces of production with a sharp blade a little way from the part and carefully sand the remainder down. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts; cement meant for plastic models may not work on accessory parts. Test the fit dry, because the diameter of the axle stub on replacement wheels need not match the original socket, and often it is enough to open the hole out slightly. If the wheels have the flattening from load suggested, the flattened surface must face the ground and the axle of the wheel must stay horizontal. Glue the wheels to the model only after it is painted, or you will dirty them every time while masking and spraying.
