A model of the American MJ-1B airfield loading platform, nicknamed the Jammer. It is a 3D-printed kit for experienced modelers: the parts are printed from resin with very fine resolution, but they are at the same time more brittle than a modeler is used to with injection-molded plastic. The 1:32 scale matches large aircraft models, alongside which the platform is built as an accessory to an airfield scene.
The MJ-1 is a low self-propelled truck with a hydraulic lift with which the ground crews of the US Air Force hang bombs and rockets under the wings and fuselages of combat aircraft. It has been in service since the 1950s and has gone through a number of upgrades, between which the shape of the frame, the cowling and the controls differ. The MJ-1B version is one of the later forms of the original range. In airfield photographs it can be seen at practically every loading of munitions, so it belongs in a diorama with a combat aircraft as naturally as a ladder or a fire extinguisher.
Separate the parts from the supports carefully, sand the surfaces they leave and wash everything before painting. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); on larger joints a glue with a longer setting time helps. Primer is a must with printed resin. Airfield equipment tends to be scuffed and dirty with hydraulic oil, so washes, edges rubbed through with pigment and greasy stains will turn the model at once into a credible piece of equipment.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
