It is not a kit and not a set of parts, but an aid for painting which the modeler uses on an assembled model. The name places the set at the CAMOUFLAGE DETAILS level, with which the brand tells sets aimed at the details of a camouflage finish apart from the BASIC, ADVANCED and EXPERT levels. The Douglas DC-3 is a twin-engine low-wing monoplane which transformed civil air transport in the 1930s and, in military form, became one of the most widespread aircraft in history. The military C-47 Skytrain version, known in British service as the Dakota, carried freight and paratroopers, towed gliders and supplied the front from Normandy to Burma. The C-48 designation was carried by machines derived from civil DC-3s which the armed forces took over from the airlines, the C-48C being the variant with the matching cabin arrangement. Undemanding maintenance and a tough airframe granted the type a postwar career lasting decades.
