1:35 Nakajima B5N2 Type 97 one-sided express fit painting mask is a set of Art Scale painting masks in 1:35 scale for one side of the glazing. An accessory to a model, not a kit. Meant for the Border Model kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of painting masks from the brand Art Scale in 1:35 scale for the Japanese Nakajima B5N2 carrier torpedo aircraft. It is not a kit but an accessory that covers the cockpit glazing while the paint is sprayed, so that the frames come out crisp and straight. The word one-sided in the name means the single-sided form, that is for the outer surfaces. Anyone who wants the frames colored on the inside as well will reach for the double-sided variant. The 1:35 scale is less usual for aircraft, but on this type it matches the kits available. The target kit is the Border Model one.
The Nakajima B5N, known to the Allies by the name Kate, was a carrier torpedo and bombing aircraft of the Imperial Japanese Navy. At the time it appeared it was among the most modern machines of its class in the world, with retractable landing gear and folding wings. The B5N2 version received a more powerful radial engine. It was exactly these machines that carried torpedoes and bombs over Pearl Harbor and took part in sinking American carriers in the battles of 1942.
Wash the glazing before masking and let it dry completely. Seat the masks one piece at a time and press the edges down carefully with a blunt tool, so that paint cannot get under them. Spray thin coats; one heavy coat will bleed sooner than three fine ones. Take the mask off as soon as the paint has flashed off, as it parts less well from a fully hardened film.
