For a modeler the Mekong Delta was literally another world: muddy water, reeds, silty banks and patrol boats that squeezed through narrow channels. Operations there often took place at night and waist-deep in water, which left its mark on the equipment and on how the soldiers looked on their return. That is exactly why the figures in this range come into their own best in a scene with a water surface or on a bank, where it is clear where they have come from.
A water surface is within reach even of a beginner these days: a stepped base, layered gel and finally a gloss top coat with ripples around the figure's legs are enough. Complete the bank with sand and static grass of varying length, so that the transition is not abrupt. Paint the figure so that the setting shows on it: darker, seemingly soaked trouser legs and lighter, sunlit shoulders. Small glossy patches will suggest droplets, but use them sparingly, or the composition will look artificial.
