A sheet of decals in 1:35 scale with generic markings for German assault guns and their battalions. The fifth part of the series devoted to these units.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sturmgeschütz, that is the assault gun, was a German turretless armored machine with the gun mounted directly in the hull. Its low silhouette made it a difficult target and its simpler construction meant faster production than a tank with a rotating turret. Originally it was to accompany the infantry and destroy nests of resistance, but as the war went on it was set against armored targets more and more often. Assault guns did not belong to the tank arm but to the artillery, and they were organized into independent battalions; the abbreviation Abt. in the designation of the sheet refers precisely to them.
Decals in 1:35 scale with generic markings, that is with insignia and signs that are not tied to a single particular machine. That has a practical advantage for a modeler: from a generic sheet you put together a vehicle of your own and the rest of the elements stay with you for another build, whereas a set cut for one machine ends after one model. The serial number five places the sheet in the series devoted to assault gun battalions.
Cut the element out as close to the print as possible and soak it in lukewarm water for a few seconds. Let it rest until the print slides freely over the backing paper, and only then transfer it onto a smooth, glossy and degreased surface. Press the excess water out with a soft cloth, help it along with a softener at rivets and edges, and once it has dried, go over the area with varnish so that the edges of the carrier film disappear.
For builders of German hardware of the Second World War in 1:35 scale who want to round a model out with unit markings. The kit, the paints and the varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
