The sixth set of the Ukrainian Star Decals series is devoted to T-72B1 tanks as they operated in the Donetsk and Luhansk Republics in 2022. The sheet rounds a model in 1:35 size out with period markings and holds no plastic parts of its own.
The designation B1 is carried by the version of the T-72B that was built without the equipment for launching a guided anti-tank missile through the gun. The hardware thus saved showed inside the turret as well; otherwise the two versions are close on the outside and only a detail of the fit tells them apart. In practice it was a less costly variant to produce, meant for wider issue, which is also the reason why machines of this line have survived in large numbers and can be met to this day in the most varied modifications. Check your reference against shots of a particular example, then: two tanks of the same designation may differ in the number of additional armor blocks and in the stowage of tools on the hull.
The designs record the markings the vehicles carried in 2022 and serve a modeler as evidence for reconstructing a particular machine. When seating a larger design, have a piece of absorbent paper ready and always push the water from the center toward the edges, so that no bubble is left under the film. The remaining adhesive, which dries into a glossy rim, is then enough to go over with a damp brush.
