The set BATUS 1 - Ferret Mk 1/2 And Mk 2/3 - Range Safety Control Group in 1:35 scale brings the markings of vehicles watching over the safety of live firing.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from Star Decals brings the markings of British Ferret scout cars in the Mk 1/2 and Mk 2/3 versions, as they served with the group watching over safety during live firing in the training area known by the abbreviation BATUS.
It is a British training area in Canadian Alberta where regiments have trained in driving and firing over a very extensive expanse since the 1970s. Supervision vehicles accompany the training units here and have to be clearly visible at a great distance, which is why they carry conspicuous warning elements and numbers. The Ferret Mk 1/2 is the variant of the turretless vehicle with a superstructure for an extra crewman, the Mk 2/3 then the turreted version with revised protection of the hull. Both served in auxiliary roles long after the Ferrets had disappeared from the front line.
Warning markings tend to be placed on the rounded areas of the fenders and the turret, where the film calls for patience and warm water. Work in parts and even any overhang off with a blade only once it has dried completely. Vehicles from a training area will take a heavy layer of dust on the chassis, but leave the areas with markings legible. Choose the degree of gloss according to whether you are building a machine fresh from maintenance or after a week in the field.
