Star Decals has put this sheet together around the last weeks of the war in the city and in its surroundings. It is not intended for any particular build; it is an addition with which an already built model in 1:72 scale is finished. According to the name it covers tanks and armored vehicles committed in Berlin as well as outside it and mentions half-track vehicles, assault guns and Tigers by name.
The fighting in the spring of 1945 brought hardware of the most varied origin together, because losses were made up from whatever was at hand. Armored half-tracks, assault guns built on the PzKpfw III chassis and heavy Tiger tanks thus stood side by side. The markings of that time tended to be modest, often only a tactical number drawn with a brush and a national cross, while elsewhere conspicuous numbers from an earlier period remained. It is precisely this mixed character that makes the last months a rewarding theme for modelers.
In a small scale the film of a decal is a fairly thick layer, so it pays to trim the excess border off as close to the design as possible. The base must be glossy and dry. After application press the design down and soak the water up; a drop of softener will help bring out the detail. A final matte varnish evens the layer out and the decal disappears into the paint.
