1:72 German Tanks in Italy # 5. Battle for Cassino 1944.

The real subject

The Italian campaign had a different face than the fighting in the east or in Normandy. Mountainous terrain and narrow valleys took away the room for maneuver from armored hardware and the fighting was often waged over a single road or a single bridge. The best known place of this campaign is Cassino, where the Allied advance on Rome came to a halt for several months of 1944 and where the German defense leaned on the terrain as much as on prepared positions. The hardware that passed through here had a look of its own: dust from broken masonry and dried-out mud left their mark on it differently than on vehicles from the northern battlefields.

What the sheet offers

Decals in 1:72 scale with the markings of German tanks committed in Italy. The serial number five places the sheet in the series devoted to this battlefield, and this part is aimed at the fighting for Cassino in 1944. A breakdown of the elements and their placement on the vehicle is given by the drawing enclosed with the sheet.

Application

Cut the element out as close to the print as possible and soak it in lukewarm water for a few seconds. Let it rest until the print slides freely over the backing paper, and transfer it onto a smooth, glossy and degreased surface. Press the excess water out with a soft cloth, help it along with a softener on edges and rivets and, once dry, go over the area with varnish. Only after that should you set about dusting and washes, otherwise you will damage a fresh decal.

Who it is for

For builders of German armored hardware in 1:72 scale and for anyone interested in the Italian battlefield. The kit, the paints and the varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
