A resin set of Kontakt-1 reactive armor blocks in 1:48 scale. It is not a vehicle kit but an accessory for armored vehicles. The package holds cast blocks of explosive reactive armor with which the hull and the turret of a tank are fitted, so that the model faithfully matches the real machines equipped with this protection.
Kontakt-1 is Soviet explosive reactive armor (ERA) introduced from the 1980s onward. The individual blocks hold an insert which, when hit by a shaped-charge projectile, explodes outward and disrupts its penetrating jet. The characteristic square blocks of Kontakt-1 appeared on a number of Soviet and Russian tanks and are part of their unmistakable look.
Wash the mold release residue off the blocks and separate them from the casting blocks. Use a super glue (cyanoacrylate) for gluing. Lay out the arrangement of the blocks in advance from period photographs of the particular vehicle. The set takes washes and pigments well for showing wear.
The accessory comes unassembled and unpainted. The basic model, the glue and the paints are not included in the package.
