Painting masks for spraying a model of the ZSU-23-4 self-propelled anti-aircraft system in 1:35 scale, shaped for the ZIMI kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The ZSU-23-4 is a Soviet self-propelled anti-aircraft system on a tracked chassis. In a large angular turret it carries four automatic 23 mm cannons and a folding radar antenna. On the model it has extensive flat areas of turret and hull, so a lot of the work on it is spraying, and at the same time it is studded with vision blocks and lights that have to be covered during painting.
The masks are cut to fit the ZIMI model of the ZSU-23-4 in 1:35 scale. The shapes therefore sit on the particular parts and there is no need to cut masks with a knife, which easily scratches the surface of the model or cuts into a clear part.
The surface under the mask has to be clean, smooth and degreased. Stick the masks on before spraying and press the edges down carefully, above all around rounded parts, where the paint most likes to bleed under. Apply the paint in several thin coats and let them flash off between applications. Take the mask off while the paint is freshly dry, not after several days, when the finish peels off with it. Lift the corner with tweezers or the tip of a knife and pull the mask away at an angle to the surface.
For modelers of Soviet vehicles in 1:35 scale who want crisp transitions and undamaged optics without cutting masks by hand. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
