A replacement turned metal barrel for the 3-inch M7 gun of 76.2 mm caliber for models of the M10 GMC tank destroyer in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The M10 GMC is an American tank destroyer of the Second World War. It came about by seating a new, open-topped rotating turret with a counterweight at the rear on the chassis of a medium tank, while the hull was given sloped armor plates. The armor stayed thin, because the doctrine of the day built tank destroyers on speed and firepower, not on protection; the open turret in turn gave the crew all-round awareness at the cost of exposure to splinters. The main weapon is the 3-inch M7 gun of 76.2 mm caliber with a long plain barrel and no muzzle brake, which could deal with most of the targets of the time.
The replacement barrel in 1:35 scale takes the place of the part from the kit. It is a turned metal barrel, on which there is no need to clean up the lengthwise marks left by production or to straighten a bent molding, and the muzzle is open instead of a suggested dimple.
Cut the original barrel off at the front of the turret and true up the hole as required, so that the replacement seats straight; check the angle from the side and from above, as it shows at once on a long barrel. Degrease the metal part before gluing and glue it with super glue. Spray a thin coat of primer before painting, otherwise the paint will peel off the smooth metal during handling. After spraying, bring out the muzzle with a dark shade and dirty the area around the turret slightly, so that the barrel does not look like a foreign part.
For modelers who build American vehicles of the Second World War in 1:35 scale and want the most conspicuous part of the model straight and with an open muzzle. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
