About product

1:32 F4F-3 Wildcat Early (pre-war) .50 Browning barrels and early pitot tube

A precise detailing set from the manufacturer MASTER for models of the Grumman F4F-3 Wildcat in the large 1:32 scale. It contains turned brass barrels for the .50 (12.7 mm) Browning wing machine guns with drilled cooling jackets and a turned pitot tube. The early (pre-war) rendition has cooling holes of an oblong shape. In a large scale the fineness of metal parts stands out especially markedly.

The real subject

The Grumman F4F-3 Wildcat was a carrier fighter of the US Navy from the start of the Second World War. The early machines differed from the later ones in, among other things, the oblong cooling holes in the barrel jackets and the shape of the pitot tube.

Use and fitting

  • Cut off the plastic ends of the barrels and replace them with the turned metal ones.
  • Glue the metal parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate).
  • The brass can be roughened before gluing for better paint adhesion.
  • Fit the pitot tube at the close of the build.

Who the set is for

For modelers in the large 1:32 scale who want maximum realism in the armament and the details of their Wildcat.

This is an add-on set, not a model of an aircraft. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package.
