A plastic kit of the Polish 7TP light tank in the single-turret form of early production, in 1:35 scale. IBG Models is a Polish maker and the subject of home vehicles of 1939 is among its strongest sides: in its range the 7TP makes up a whole family of variants, of which this one captures the older shape of the vehicle.
The 7TP was a Polish light tank derived from the British six-ton Vickers, which the Poles reworked in a number of places. The most important change was a diesel engine, thanks to which the 7TP was among the first series-produced tanks in the world with diesel power, and on the single-turret version a new turret with a 37 mm gun. It was precisely the gun variant that in September 1939 was the most powerful machine the Polish armored units had, and in the defensive fighting it proved a full match for the German light tanks of the day.
The running gear with its leaf springs is on show on the 7TP, so give yourself time to line it up and glue it on a flat surface, so that the model does not sit crooked. Finish the interior and the lower hull before closing it up. Polish finishes of 1939 include both a single dark shade and multicolor camouflage with soft transitions: the latter is the more rewarding for an airbrush. Choose dusty rather than muddy weathering and pick the edges out with a dry brush. Fit the tracks only after the chassis has been painted.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
