Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of a heavy towed artillery piece in 1:35 scale. The model captures a howitzer of 8 inch caliber, that is roughly 203 mm, on its characteristic split-trail carriage with a limber. AFV Club is among the makers that have long specialized in artillery and military equipment, and its sets tend to be broken down into a great number of separate parts.
The eight-inch howitzer M1 was an American weapon of corps and army artillery. It shared its carriage and running gear with the long-range gun of 155 mm caliber, so both weapons used the same means of traction and crews trained on common materiel. It fired a heavy shell on a steep trajectory and was used for destroying fortifications and resistant targets. It stayed in service after the Second World War as well.
First try the assembly of the carriage and the trails dry, as with artillery models that decides whether the model ends up standing straight. Glue the barrel and the breech so that any elevation is preserved. Glue the plastic with thin cement applied into the joint with a brush. Apply a primer before painting, then the base shade with an airbrush, and deal with the shadows with a dark wash that runs into the rivets and the engraved lines. Fine-tune the dust on the wheels and the lower part of the carriage with pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
