A photo-etched detail set for a model of the Buk-M2 self-propelled anti-aircraft missile system in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Buk-M2 is a self-propelled anti-aircraft missile system on a tracked chassis. What shows most on the model is the upper part of the vehicle: the tilting launcher, the radar and a series of small grilles, handles and covers which an injection-molded kit can only suggest in simplified form, because plastic cannot be this thin.
A set of photo-etched parts. Photo-etch is a thin metal fret with the parts etched through to their final shape; they are held on it only by thin tabs, which are cut through before fitting. What exactly the set covers and in what order the parts are fitted are shown in the enclosed instructions. They also show where the original plastic detail has to be sanded away so that the metal part beds down.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and sand the remainder of the tab down, so that no burr is left. Bend along the etched groove, and rather once properly than several times back and forth, because bent metal cracks in the end. It is glued with super glue in small drops. Before painting, degrease the fret and coat it with a primer for metal; without one the paint soon rubs off the edge. Fit the fine grilles only once the base camouflage has dried, otherwise it is hard to spray underneath them.
For builders of military vehicles in a large scale who want to take the detail beyond what the box holds. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
