This set of photo-etched metal parts from the Czech manufacturer Eduard is intended for finishing out a plastic model of the British cruiser tank A34 Comet in 1:35 scale. It is not a model of the tank and not a kit — it is an accessory that replaces coarser or simplified plastic parts with thin photo-etched metal. It is precisely on thin surfaces, grilles and brackets that the difference between plastic and photo-etched metal shows most on a finished model.
The A34 Comet was a British cruiser tank from the end of the Second World War which followed on in development from the Cromwell type and took over its running gear and the concept of a fast tracked vehicle. The main armament was a 77 mm gun with a high muzzle velocity, mounted in a welded turret. The machine reached the units at the turn of 1944 and 1945, and in the British army and with further users it remained in service for a number of years after the war, so it appears on models in postwar markings as well.
Separate the parts on a hard surface with a sharp scalpel or with shears for photo-etched parts, and never tear them out — they would be deformed. Make the bends in a photo-etch bending tool, or else between two razor blades; a sharp edge always arises on the side scored by the etching. Superglue applied with a pin suits the gluing, and with larger parts soldering holds more firmly. Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with a primer for metal, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface and will rub off during handling.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a model on its own. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
