A resin replacement for the turret of the British A34 Comet tank, cast already with a camouflage net of jute strips on the armor. This is exactly the detail that is only very hard to put together in plastic, because the net has to follow the shape of the turret, sag over the edges and keep the fine texture of the fabric all at once. The set is an accessory to a plastic kit, and the model of the tank itself is not in the package.
The A34 Comet was a British cruiser tank of the end of the Second World War, armed with a high-velocity 77 mm gun. Against the older British types it brought better armor and a far more effective armament, while keeping the nimbleness that British doctrine called for in cruiser tanks. Crews commonly wove strips of jute into a camouflage net on the turret and hull, because they broke up the outline of the vehicle and damped its shape among vegetation.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap, separate the casting blocks with a saw and level the lower seating of the turret wet, so that the turret sits in the opening of the hull without play. Try seating it dry before painting. The net is mainly a painting task: it is best to color it first in a darker tone than the armor, then to lighten the tops of the strips step by step with a dry brush and finally to damp it down with a light wash, so that the shadows settle between the fibers. Jute must not be glossy, so knock the gloss back with a matte varnish. Apply dust sparingly, otherwise the fine texture of the net is flooded.
