1:35 B5N2 Type 97 Kate is an Eduard package of photo-etch and masks for a model of the Japanese carrier torpedo aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The box brings together photo-etched sets and masking film made for a kit of the Nakajima B5N2 Type 97 carrier attack aircraft, which the Allies nicknamed Kate. The plastic model itself is not included; this is an accessory for someone who already has the kit.
The ratio 1:35 is at home above all with ground equipment and appears less often with aircraft. In recent years, however, several aircraft kits have come out in exactly this scale, so that joint scenes with soldiers, equipment and airfield gear can be built. The stated ratio is therefore correct and is not a misprint in the designation.
The B5N2 was the main Japanese carrier torpedo and bomber aircraft of the first half of the war. It carried a crew of three, had a folding wing for operations from aircraft carriers and could carry a torpedo or bombs under the fuselage. It is the glazed canopy running over a large part of the fuselage that makes it a type where masking film and a photo-etched interior pay off most.
It will be appreciated by a modeler who wants something to show in the glazed canopy, and by a builder of a scene from a carrier deck where the aircraft is surrounded by figures and equipment in the same scale.
