The injection-molded plastic kit from the maker IBG models captures the British military truck Bedford QL in the version of a tanker for fuel. It is a typical supply vehicle that completes the fighting equipment in a diorama and gives the scene a logistic context. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is built from injection-molded plastic by the ordinary modeling methods.
The Bedford QL was a British range of trucks with drive to all wheels, produced in the course of the Second World War in several body forms. Besides the ordinary flatbed version, variants came about for the signals service, for towing guns, for carrying troops and for carrying liquids. The tanker version supplied units in the field with fuel and was fitted with a tank with a dispensing device that made it possible to refuel directly in the field. In design the truck was based on civil production, completed with a cross-country chassis with drive to all wheels and with a simplified military cab, on the later series with flat panels.
Finish the frame, the axles and the running gear first, because once the tank is fitted you can no longer reach them. Paint the cab and add the patina to it before closing it. From the modeling point of view the cylindrical tank is the most conspicuous surface of the whole truck, so spray it smoothly and without grain, and fill and sand over any seams carefully. British khaki paint is brought to life well by lightening the upper surfaces and with a fine dark wash around the rivets and the hinges. Concentrate the mud effects on the wheels, the fenders and the lower part of the frame; on the tank dust and marks of running diesel suit better. Leave the lettering and the plates with safety markings until the gloss varnish, so that the decals adhere well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
