An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy motorcycle with a sidecar in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer IBG Models. It is the military version in 2 in 1 form: from one box you can build, according to the instructions, either the motorcycle without armament or the variant with a sidecar mounting an MG 34 machine gun. The model has a well worked-out frame and engine, interior detail of the sidecar, panniers and a molded spoked wheel with a separate three-part tire.
The BMW R12 was one of the most widespread German motorcycles of its day, with a flat-twin engine and shaft drive. In the sidecar version it served the Wehrmacht during the Second World War as a liaison, reconnaissance and support vehicle; with a machine gun fitted it also filled a light combat role. It was built in large numbers and became a typical image of German motorized equipment.
Use thin cement for plastic and work in subassemblies, because the frame and the engine deserve careful cleaning up. Bond the small parts and any photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a primer before painting; an airbrush is ideal. The motorcycle usually carries a uniform dark gray or the later dark yellow. You create the weathering with a dark wash in the recesses and dust pigments on the lower areas and the sidecar.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
