An accessory set of light boiler armor for a model of the German BR-52 class war locomotive in 1:35 scale, intended for the Trumpeter kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The BR-52 is a German war locomotive, built in large numbers from the second half of the war and simplified so that it could be produced quickly and cheaply. It served for transport on the long lines of occupied territories, and that is exactly where it was most vulnerable. Machines deployed on threatened stretches were therefore given plates that protected the crew and the most sensitive parts of the machine from fire from close to the track. The armor of the boiler is the most conspicuous of these modifications and it markedly changes the silhouette of the locomotive.
The set adds light boiler armor to a model of the locomotive. It is intended for the kit in 1:35 scale from the Trumpeter company. Test the seating dry first, as the shell of the boiler is curved and the parts have to seat on it without play; fill any gap with a thin section and sand the seam over. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and level the remainder. Before painting, wash and degrease the parts; the particular procedure and the order of assembly are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
For builders of railway equipment in 1:35 scale and for dioramas with a station or a line, where the locomotive is to come across as a machine deployed on a threatened stretch rather than as a peacetime train.
The locomotive kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
