This is an accessory set for dioramas and figures, not a kit. The package holds eight castings of the Karabiner 98k rifle in 1:35 scale, made from resin of the Brassin line. Resin casting allows finer and sharper shapes than can be drawn out of an ordinary injection mold, so small features such as the sights, the sling loops and the bolt are easier to read.
The Karabiner 98k was the standard rifle of the German army in the Second World War, derived from the older Mauser model 98 rifle and shortened for easier handling. It was a bolt-action repeating rifle with a magazine loaded from a stripper clip, in 7.92 mm caliber. It was produced in large numbers and it is therefore a usual part of figure scenes from that period.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water before painting, so that the mold release agent is removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and never break the thin parts off. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), and the gel version gives time to seat the rifle in a figure's hands. For the wooden parts a brown primer works well, then a thin oil or acrylic glaze over it, and finally a matte varnish. Pick out the metal parts with a dark shade and a light dry brush in a graphite or steel tone.
This is an accessory set, not a kit. The figures, glue and paints are not included in the package.
