A pair of standalone castings of brick pillars in 1:35 scale. Supplied without a base coat, so the choice of base and the way the surface is finished stay entirely with the modeler.
Responsibility details are not available.
A standalone pillar tends to be more useful in a diorama than a whole section of wall. With it you can suggest the entrance to a farm building, the remains of a shot-up enclosure or the support of a pergola, and above all it can be placed anywhere without tying the composition to a fixed length. There are two pieces in the package, which is exactly the count needed to create a gateway.
Brick posts of this type stood across the whole of Europe at every larger yard. In combat scenes they became natural fixed points: they covered infantry, served as a landmark for a driver and after a hit stayed standing even when only rubble was left of the wall around them. A modeler can therefore make them the center of a scene or its unobtrusive edge.
Unlike the variant with a base coat, this pair comes with a bare surface. That is an advantage for anyone with his own proven system of paints, because he chooses his own base according to whether he plans acrylics, oil varnishes or pigments. Before applying the base it pays to rinse the surface and let it dry perfectly, so the coat holds well.
In painting it helps to keep to the rule that a joint is always darker than a brick and the crown of a post tends to be the most faded by rain and sun. This single difference in shade will do more for credibility than the most careful definition of individual bricks. Anyone who wants to go further can darken the lower part of the post with pigment and so suggest rising damp, which on masonry structures holds near the ground all year round.
