Decals in 1:35 scale from Star Decals with the markings of the British Centurion tanks deployed at Suez in 1956. The set is an accessory for a finished model and does not hold a kit.
The Suez campaign in the autumn of 1956 was different for the British armored units from European exercises: it was a landing operation in a port city, where the tanks came ashore from landing craft and the fighting took place in a densely built-up area between the canals and the docks. The Centurion was already an established and proven machine there, with good armor protection and an accurate main weapon. The difference from earlier theaters lay mainly in the environment, that is sand, salt and urban development, where a tank has limited visibility and short firing ranges.
A desert and harbor environment tempts you into one dusting of the whole model, but the result tends to be flat. It is better to build up layers: fine pale dust on the horizontal surfaces, more pronounced deposits in the corners between the turret and the hull, and darker wear in the places the crew moved. Apply the decals before the dust layer, so that the markings look like part of the vehicle and not like a sticker on top. Level the base beforehand with a gloss varnish.
