An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Light Utility Car 10HP in 1:35 scale from the Japanese maker Tamiya. The model captures the small liaison and utility car that soldiers nicknamed the Tilly. The kit has an opening hood with a modeled engine, opening doors with a detailed interior, and a figure of a driver tends to come with it. Check the exact package contents and the decals against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
During the Second World War the British armed forces converted the chassis of civilian passenger cars into small utility vehicles. The Tilly grew out of a civilian car with a small engine and rear-wheel drive. It lacked cross-country ability, so vehicles with all-wheel drive soon replaced it; it was therefore used mainly on airfields and paved surfaces for liaison and auxiliary duties.
A small model repays care, and it pays to paint the engine and the interior before you cover them. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic, and glue the clear parts carefully with cement for glazing, so that the plastic does not cloud. British vehicles usually wore a single-color khaki or earthy shade; after spraying, bring the surface to life with a wash and fine dust pigments on the chassis.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
