The figure 1:35 British paratrooper driver from Black Dog is conceived as a vehicle crewman, that is a figure meant to be seated behind the wheel.
Responsibility details are not available.
A figure from the Black Dog figure line, which the name defines unambiguously as a driver. That sets it apart from the standing figures of the same line: a seated pose does not suit a display case on its own, but it can bring a vehicle to life whose cab would otherwise stay empty. And on open off-road vehicles an empty cab is the first thing the viewer notices.
Crew figures do not seat themselves in particular cabs. Try the placing dry before any surface treatment and check three things: whether the knees fit under the dashboard, whether the palms reach the rim of the steering wheel and whether the head does not clash with the frame. Any adjustments are made at this moment only; on a finished coat of paint they are expensive. Mark the seat and the floor of the cab in pencil at the same time, so that you know exactly where the figure belongs.
With a seated crewman the attention concentrates on the upper half of the body, the hands and the head; the knees and the footwear are usually hidden by the side of the vehicle. Give the detailed work to the head, the collar and the hands, then. One small thing that often gets forgotten also pays off: the figure should be as soiled as the vehicle, or it looks as though it had only just been put in.
