1:35 British paratroper N°1

The real subject

British paratroopers are light infantry that arrives by air and after landing relies on what it can carry. Hence their characteristic look, with the kit packed close to the body, closed clothing and the stance of a man ready for a long move on foot. This item carries the number one in its name because it belongs to a line in which the individual figures differ in the carriage of the body and can be ordered one at a time.

One figure and still a scene

A standalone figure has the advantage that it can be placed practically anywhere. Beside a vehicle model it gives a display case scale, on a small base with a piece of terrain it stands as a scene in its own right, and in a larger diorama it serves as the figure that leads the viewer's eye. In 1:35 scale an adult measures about five centimeters, so the figure fits hardware, buildings and accessories in the same scale. The other numbers of the line can also be collected and built into a group.

Building and painting tips

With a single figure you can take trouble over the preparation. Cut any excess material away a little distance from the part with a sharp blade, sand the remainder and wash and degrease the surface so that the base coat holds. Join any parts with cyanoacrylate glue, which works on ordinary modeling materials. Build the uniform from a darker base up to lighter coats, underline the folds with a wash and give the most time to the face, because with a single figure that is what decides. Finally unify the surface with a matte varnish.

Who it is for

The figure will please modelers who want to add a human figure to hardware in 1:35 scale, and collectors for whom assembling a line piece by piece makes sense. It also suits an undemanding exercise in painting figures.

Paints, glue and the other material needed to finish it are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
