The real subject

Paratroopers are marked out by being self-sufficient: what they need they have on them, and so they look compact and ready even at rest. For a modeler that is an advantage, because a scene with them needs neither hardware nor extensive architecture. The number two in the name indicates that this is a continuation of the line and that the figures can be joined with the earlier set into one larger scene.

The second set of the line

When you build a scene from two sets at once, watch above all for repetition. Two figures in the same stance side by side catch the eye immediately, whereas a different turn of the head or a different activity will tell them apart reliably. In 1:35 scale an adult measures about five centimeters, so the figures combine with vehicles, buildings and terrain accessories in the same scale. A group split into two smaller clusters also looks more natural than one regular formation.

Building and painting tips

Cut any excess material away a little distance from the part with a sharp blade, sand the remainder and wash, degrease and prime the surface. Cyanoacrylate glue suits the joining of the parts, as it holds on ordinary modeling materials. Paint the uniform from a darker base up to lighter coats on the exposed places, let a wash into the folds and go over the edges with a dry brush. If you want both sets to look like one unit, mix the shades in quantity and paint the figures from the stock mix; that unifies the whole better than corrections afterwards. Finally close everything with a matte varnish.

The set will suit modelers who already have the first part of the line and want to widen the scene, and also those starting out who are looking for a ready group of figures for an infantry diorama.
