Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet with markings for Shermans and other armor of the British cavalry regiment 3rd/4th CLY, whose traditional nickname Sharpshooters gave the set its name. The item belongs to the series issued for the 75th anniversary of the Normandy landings and in theme it therefore aims at the summer campaign of 1944. The set is not a kit but a set of decals for a finished and painted model in 1:35 scale.
The abbreviation CLY stands for County of London Yeomanry, that is a cavalry regiment of the territorial type which re-equipped with tanks during the war. The third and fourth regiments were merged during the Normandy campaign in 1944 into a single unit carried as the 3rd/4th CLY. British armor bore an elaborate system of markings: the unit serial number on its square, the formation sign, national insignia and tactical markings on the turret and on the hull alike. It is exactly this layered quality that makes British vehicles a rewarding theme for modelers.
With British markings it matters exactly where each marking belongs, so lay the arrangement out in advance and compare it with period photographs. Even the areas on the fenders and the turret sides out with gloss varnish, go by the manufacturer's instructions while applying and finally fix everything with a matte clear coat. A Normandy summer invites bold weathering, but do not overdo the dust, so that the markings stay legible.
