A photo-etched brass set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard intended for detailing a model of the Soviet BTR-50PK amphibious armored personnel carrier in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit, but a set of thin-walled etched parts that replace or supplement the coarser plastic elements of the base kit and give the model a realistic look.
The BTR-50PK was a Soviet tracked amphibious armored personnel carrier derived from the chassis of the PT-76 amphibious tank. It served to carry infantry, could swim under its own power thanks to water jets and became one of the widespread carriers of the Eastern Bloc armies and of a number of other countries. The PK version had a fully enclosed troop compartment.
The etched parts are separated with a sharp knife, shaped with a bending tool or a ruler and bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). On a carrier the etched parts refine above all the grilles, tie-downs, equipment brackets and small sheet metal covers. Degrease the surface before painting and apply a primer.
This is a photo-etched detail accessory, not a stand-alone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
