An original resin figure from the range of Alternity Miniatures. It is not a period military figure for a tank kit but a collector's piece of its own with an artistic subject of its own. It can be built as a solitary piece on a base and also brought into a smaller scene in 1:35 scale, where it meets ordinary plastic kits of equipment.
A resin casting holds sharper detail than injected plastic. The texture of the cloth, the straps and harness, the wrinkles and the small accessories come out legibly even in a small scale and do not disappear under the parting line of the mold. The price for that is a different technology of handling: the parts are not nipped off a sprue but cut away from casting blocks, and they are not glued with glue for plastic.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water, so that the mold release agent comes off the surface. Without that the paint does not hold and peels off once dry. Cut the casting blocks away with a fine saw or a cutter and sand the cut surfaces down; when sanding resin, protect your breathing and work wet rather than dry. Glue the joints with super glue, fill any gaps with modeling filler and sand them over again. Before painting apply a thin primer, ideally in a shade close to the coloring to come. Paint the face first and with time to spare: a base of the skin, thin glazes into the shadows, a lighter tone on the raised areas. The eyes are easier to manage if you first fill them in with white and only then seat the pupil. A discreet wash and a little pigment will bring the metal accessories to life.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
