A resin accessory for a model of the British Centurion tank in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Elefant. It is not a vehicle model and not a complete running gear, but a standalone detail part that replaces the mount of the idler wheel and its tensioning mechanism. You will use it where the shape of the part from the kit is not good enough for you.
The idler wheel holds the track at the prescribed tension and sits at the opposite end of the running gear from the drive sprocket. Its bracket with the adjuster is on the real vehicle a broken-up casting with crisp edges, stiffeners and bolt heads. Injected plastic necessarily simplifies this area, because the parting line of the mold runs through it. A resin casting is made in one piece, so it holds full undercut shapes and fine surface texture.
Separate the part from the casting block with a fine-toothed saw or a cutting disc, never by breaking it. Level the cut surface on abrasive paper laid on glass, so that the part seats exactly on the axis of the running gear. Before gluing, wash the whole casting in warm water with detergent and get rid of any residue of mold release agent. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, preferably the gel type, which leaves a few seconds to fine-tune the position. Ordinary plastic cement will not join resin. Apply a primer before painting, otherwise paint does not hold on the smooth surface. Sanding wet and with your airways protected is recommended.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
