This photo-etched exterior set is intended for the plastic model of the British main battle tank Chieftain Mk.5 in 1:35 scale. It adds fine exterior details such as the engine compartment grilles, the side skirts over the running gear, brackets, eyes and other small features that plastic cannot capture at the right thinness. The set is an accessory, not a standalone kit.
The Chieftain was a British main battle tank of the Cold War, armed with a gun of 120 mm caliber. In its day it was among the most heavily armed and best armored tanks of the Western bloc, and it had a characteristically sloped frontal armor plate and a reclining position for the driver. The Mk.5 version was one of the upgraded variants that long formed the backbone of the British armored forces.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and make the bends in a bending tool or over a metal edge. Glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Degrease the metal before painting and cover it with a primer coat. The fine grilles and side skirts show to advantage once a wash and pigments have been applied.
This is an add-on photo-etched set, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
