The third numbered version of the column ground from the Black Dog brand. The goods are a small scenic base for 1:35 scale on which an architectural column stands. This is not a kit; you get the shape finished and the surface treatment and the mounting of a model or figure of your own remain your work.

The third variant of the column motif

Numbered variants of one subject make practical sense in diorama work. Anyone building a longer city scene needs several similar but not identical items, so that the display does not look like copies of a single casting. That is exactly what this ground is for; it will complement older pieces in a collection and at the same time hold its own as a vignette for a single figure.

Stone surface without needless work

On a column, viewers notice above all the transition between light and shadow, so it pays to choose a base noticeably lighter than the intended final color. The dark shade will then flow into the hollows and the rest of the surface stays light of its own accord. Suggest the chipped places with small light points on the edges, but sparingly, as a column is not rubble. Finally add a thin layer of deposit at the foot, which joins the ground to its surroundings.
