The corner of two walls is the basic building block of diorama work. It has no conspicuous subject, and that is exactly why it can be used universally – from a town alley through a back yard to the setting of a repair shop or a store.
A corner holds the scene together from two directions while leaving the third side open to the viewer's eye. One figure will fit on it, and so will two, without the setting feeling crowded. As soon as you add some small thing to one wall – a crate, a drum or a length of pipe – the regular symmetry of the whole stops being distracting.
With masonry it is the joint that decides: thinned dark paint run into the grooves does more for the result than the most painstaking detail on the surface. Even the surface out afterward with a dry brush in a lighter tone, and leave a darker veil wherever damp belongs. It can be finished with a colored filter that brings differently mixed parts into harmony. If you are planning to photograph the setting, reckon with the camera emphasizing every unfinished edge far more than the eye does.
The base is finished to your own idea and links up with adjoining terrain without trouble once the edges are made good with putty.
