Decals for German turret tactical numbers of the Second World War, part 9 in 1:35 scale from the Hungarian manufacturer HAD models. A waterslide sheet for models of armored vehicles.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a decal sheet in its own right, not a kit. It holds German turret tactical numbers of the Second World War period in 1:35 scale and serves to finish a model of an armored vehicle that is already built. The ninth part follows on from a wider series by the Hungarian manufacturer HAD models, in which the various styles and patterns of these numbers are worked through one after another. The decals are the classic waterslide kind, so they are dipped in water before being applied.
A tactical number painted on the turret identified a particular vehicle within a platoon and a company. The style differed by unit and by period: numbers solid, outline only, with a contrasting edging or in a combination of two colors, and in various sizes. It is precisely because of that variety that the series comes out in several parts, so that a modeler can find the pattern that matches what a reference photograph or profile shows.
A decal behaves best on a smooth gloss base, so spray the area with gloss clear coat beforehand. Cut the design out as close as possible, soak it in lukewarm water, let it ease off the paper and slide it into place. On a busy surface such as rivets, grab handles or the edges of a turret a decal softener helps, as it lets the design pull down onto the detail and prevents silvering. Once it has dried completely, unify the whole with a matte or semi-matte varnish and only then apply the weathering, so that the wash and the pigments age the number naturally.
This is a decal sheet, not a kit. The model, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
